The 70th session of the UN General Assembly is scheduled to open at UN Headquarters on September 15.
"I met [Russian Foreign] Minister Lavrov quite recently actually, while we were negotiating the Iranian deal we were spending quite some time together. I also met him in Kuala Lumpur in Asia on the 7 August for the Asia Regional Forum and I guess I will meet him again in New York in the UN General Assembly, as I think will be the case for many of us.," Mogherini said at a press briefing on Monday.
EU Foreign policy chief and the Russian Foreign Minister frequently hold meetings and coordinate in a very positive way, and discuss global pressing issues not only publicly, but during bilateral closed-door meetings, Mogherini stressed.
Last week, Russian Foreign Ministry said that Lavrov would meet with US Secretary of State John Kerry on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly if their schedules allowed for it.
