In its relation to Russia, Europe is ruled by double standards, with politics dominated by pro-Atlantic sentiment. Therefore, as explains French political analyst Philip Migo in an interview with Le Figaro, anyone who calls for peaceful relations with Russia, is labeled as traitor or a Kremlin agent.

Europe is under the influence of the United States and the countries that adhere to pro-American sentiment, says the scientific director of the French Institute of International and Strategic Relations Philip Migo.

Recent NATO drills in Poland demonstrated that the alliance is able to quickly respond in case of a military action. That’s the official version. Unofficially, the large-scale military operation was directed against Russia and was intended to intimidate the Kremlin, said Florent Parmentier, a political expert at Paris Institute of Political Science. - Sputnik International
NATO Can’t Break Its Old Habit, Threatens Russia – French Political Expert
Even in Paris and Berlin, who in 2003, along with Russia opposed the invasion of Iraq, are now on the side of the pro-NATO leaders. Therefore, the position of Russia where it needs to protect its own interests is clear and dignified, the expert said in an interview.

Migo further mentions how France is currently actively criticizing the French parliamentarians who traveled to Crimea. He recalls that President Francois Hollande has repeatedly been in “much more dictatorial countries” than Russia — for example, in Saudi Arabia. “If we talk only with those countries that adhere to the same views as we do, then it is very weakening to our diplomacy: we are not going to talk to so many,” said the expert.

He also notes how in relation to Russia, Europe applies double-standards. The expert also brought up the fact that Saudi Arabia and its allies for several months have bombed Yemen now, but they received no mandate to do so from the UN Security Council.

France, meanwhile, continues to sell weapons to these countries. “It is ridiculous for France to pretend to be hurt on the Crimean situation and to refuse to supply Russia with “Mistral”, but being ready to do anything to sell weapons and technology to the monarchies of the Persian Gulf” says Philip Migo.

Russian-French relations today are not developing and they will remain in the locked position till France stops regarding Russia as an enemy. The analyst mentions that he is quite sure that France has no serious dispute with Russia; on the other hand, they have many common interests. Hence, Paris needs to listen to those who express peaceable and rational views on diplomacy.
