Moldova President Approves Strelet as New Prime Minister

Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti on Thursday signed a decree approving Deputy Chairman of the Liberal-Democratic Party Valeriu Strelet as the country's new prime minister, the presidential press service said.

CHISINAU (Sputnik) — The Moldovan parliament, dominated by the ruling Alliance for European Integration, supported Strelet's candidature earlier in the day.

Strelet replaces Chiril Gaburici, who resigned on June 12.

Strelet addressed the parliament on Thursday outlining the government's action plan, which includes European integration and broader strategic partnership with the US and NATO as priorities.
