ROME (Sputnik) — The main political goals for the European Union and Greece should be avoiding the country's possible exit from the Eurozone and agreeing on a plan of reforms and debt settlement, Gentiloni said in an interview with the Corriere della Sera newspaper.
"We must not underestimate a particular acuteness of the Greek problem, but it can be resolved only if the European Union finds a political horizon."
Gentiloni underlined that Europe should be more responsible, united and integrated in order to successfully deal with the Greek crisis.
On Sunday, more than 61 percent of Greek voters rejected the lenders-proposed bailout plan in a nationwide referendum. The proposed measures included increased taxes and pension cuts.
The vote has renewed fears that Athens might default on its multibillion dollar debt and leave the Eurozone.
