"We do not exclude [holding the third round of talks] and we are ready, but there are no fixed dates yet. Contact is made on a daily basis, the Syrian foreign minister has visited us recently," Gatilov told reporters.
On January 26-29, Moscow hosted intra-Syrian talks, attended by representatives of the Syrian government and a number of opposition groups. The negotiations were the first talks dedicated to Syrian reconciliation since January 2014, when a UN-backed conference on the Syrian conflict was held in Geneva, Switzerland, but it failed to yield significant results.
The Syrian civil war began in 2011 following an anti-government uprising. Syrian authorities are fighting a number of rebel groups, including Islamic State extremists.
According to UN estimates, the conflict has claimed some 220,000 lives. As of July 2015, at least 7.6 million people had been internally displaced by the war.
