VIENNA (Sputnik) – The Russian delegation is confident that the world powers will reach a final agreement with Iran over its nuclear program within the new time frame and on the basis of compromise, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Thursday.
"I will not begin to forecast how many hours are needed to solve this matter. But each party is resolute on concluding this matter in the next few days without extensions," Ryabkov said.
"Very deep control over the key elements of the Iranian nuclear program will be installed as part of the upcoming solutions, but on the basis of compromise instead of pressure," he added.
"We are sure that the deal will be reached and that it will be comprehensive, as stated in the title of the document," the diplomat said.
"Not only me, but all the other delegations [in Vienna] are determined to finish the job in the coming days. July 7 is the deadline, if we do it earlier, it is good for us, too," he added.
Ryabkov also said that speculation that a finalized text on the six world powers’ agreement with Iran on its disputed nuclear deal are false.
"Rumors about a some kind of finished text submitted to the political directors and foreign ministers for review are untrue," Ryabkov told journalists in the Austrian capital.
"The current volume of inspections, in Russia's view, is more than enough to conclude that Iran does not have any programs or projects aimed at nuclear weaponization," Sergei Ryabkov said.
"I state it with all responsibility and I am ready to defend this position," Ryabkov stressed.
He also believes that the ties between Russia and Iran will strengthen after the comprehensive agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program is reached.
“We are sure, the relations between Russia and Iran will only strengthen after the comprehensive agreements will be reached,” Ryabkov said.
For years, the West has been accusing Iran of developing its nuclear weapons under the guise of a peaceful nuclear energy program. Anti-Iran sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union banned sales of Iranian oil products to the European Union and some parts of Asia, and also prohibited the West’s nuclear cooperation with Iran.
In April, Iran and the P5+1 group worked out a political framework agreement on the Iranian nuclear program. The initial June 30 deadline for reaching the full-fledged deal was extended for another week and will expire July 7. Several top diplomats, including France’s Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, have left the talks, but are expected to come back later.
