“Lavrov has a number of bilateral meetings planned, including with [Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad] Zarif, [US Secretary of State John] Kerry, and [German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter] Steinmeier,” the source told RIA Novosti.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told Sputnik earlier that Zarif, the top Iranian diplomat, was to meet with his Russian counterpart on the margins of the nuclear talks later on Tuesday.
Apart from Zarif, Lavrov is due to hold talks with Kerry. The diplomats are expected to discuss how to dismantle the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq.
June 30 is the deadline for Tehran and the P5+1 group of international mediators – comprising Russia, China, France, Britain, the United States and Germany – to hammer out a comprehensive deal on the Iranian nuclear program.
