ST. PETERSBURG (Sputnik) — The process of implementing agreements on Iran’s nuclear program will take about six months, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday.

“I think the signing should take place in the near future, but most importantly, and we met with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) yesterday, the process of implementing these agreements will begin afterwards. It will require about six months,” Putin said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The foreign ministers of Iran and the P5+1 group of international negotiators, comprising Russia, China, Britain, France, the United States and Germany, are expected to craft an agreement ensuring the peaceful nature of Tehran's nuclear program before the June 30 deadline.

Currently, the second day of consultations on Tehran's nuclear program between the political directors of Iran and the P5+1 group of international mediators is taking place in Vienna, Austria.

In April, after signing a political framework deal, Iran agreed to cut back uranium enrichment and reduce the number of centrifuges in exchange for a gradual international sanctions relief.

However, Iran and the world powers still disagree on a number of issues, including a mechanism to reimpose sanctions on Tehran in case the deal is violated, and access by international experts to inspect nuclear facilities in Iran.
