October 2014 Parliament Elections in Ukraine Fairest Ever - Samantha Power
"During the meeting, [Power and Yatsenyuk] discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine, the implementation of the Minsk agreements, and further steps to bolster UN actions toward peaceful settlement," the statement said Thursday.

On Thursday, Powers said that the October 2014 elections to the Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian parliament, were the fairest in the country's history.

The Kiev forces and eastern Ukraine's independence supporters have been clashing since April 2014, when Kiev launched a military operation in the country's east.

In mid-February, the warring sides agreed to a ceasefire but since then have accused each other of violating the truce.
