The Russian Defense Ministry vehemently denied on Thursday 'repetitive' and 'unfounded' claims by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko over the alleged involvement of Russian troops in the Ukrainian conflict.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — In an address to the Ukrainian parliament earlier on Thursday, Poroshenko reiterated claims over alleged presence of Russian 'tactical combat groups' in the war-torn regions of eastern Ukraine.

"There are no 'regular Russian troops' or 'tactical combat groups' in Ukraine," the ministry's spokesman, Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov, said in a statement.

"We perfectly understand that without claims about alleged deployment of regular Russian troops, the entire address to Rada would turn into a boring justification of failed hopes and a phantasmagoria of illusions."
