Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reminded that Ukraine is waging war against its own people following Petro Poroshenko's claims in an interview with BBC that Kiev is fighting against Moscow in Donbass.

Ukrainian President Poroshenko said on Wednesday that Kiev is at war not with the independence supporters in the country's southeast, but with Russia.

"No, the Kremlin does not agree, first of all, one needs to realize that, unfortunately, Kiev is at war with its own citizens, citizens of Ukraine, they are being shelled, they are being killed, you must talk about this in the first place," Peskov said, responding to a question whether Moscow agrees with Poroshenko's controversial comments.

Russia Will Never Wage War Against Ukraine - Deputy Defense Minister
Earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that Ukraine is in a state of war with "a nuclear state, which is the Russian Federation." On January 27, the Ukrainian parliament adopted a bill recognizing Russia as an "aggressor country".

Moscow has repeatedly stressed that war between Russia and Ukraine is impossible.
