Kremlin Spokesperson Says Meeting Between Putin, Kerry in Sochi Unconfirmed

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has not confirmed a meeting between Vladimir Putin and John Kerry in Sochi on May 12.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A final decision regarding a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Secretary of State John Kerry in Russia's resort city of Sochi on May 12 has not been made yet, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday.

“We will let you know if such a meeting takes place,” Peskov told Govorit Moskva radio station.

Earlier in the day, the US State Department said that US State Secretary John Kerry will visit Sochi on May 12, where he will meet with President Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

According to the US State Department, the sides are expected to focus on a range of international issues, including the crises in Syria and Ukraine, as well as the Iranian nuclear program.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has confirmed the meeting between Lavrov and Kerry.
