Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi will attend the Victory Day parade in Moscow on May 9, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe, the president's office confirmed Tuesday.

Sisi is also expected to discuss bileteral ties during his two-day visit to the Russian capital.

In February, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Egypt to boost bilateral ties with the Arab republic. During the visit, the two countries signed a number of agreements on cooperation in the spheres of trade, nuclear energy, space, tourism and agriculture.

Xi Jinping to Visit Moscow on May 8-10, Attending Victory Day Parade
Russia invited a number of world leaders to attend the parade in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of Soviet victory over Nazi Germany and the end of World War II in Europe.

This year's Victory Day parade in Moscow – the biggest Russian military parade ever held – will be attended by about 25 foreign leaders, including presidents of the BRICS group of emerging economies, former Soviet republics-turned-CIS states, as well as some Asian and European countries.

Several Western heads of state, however, rejected the invitation on the grounds that they believe Russia is behind the year-long internal conflict in Ukraine, an accusation Moscow has consistently denied.
