KIEV (Sputnik) — Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk will hold talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin during a working visit scheduled for April 1 and 2, the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers' press service reported Tuesday.

"Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk will pay a working visit to Berlin on April 1 and 2. The head of the Ukrainian government will hold talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel," the statement published on the cabinet's website reads.

Yatsenyuk's plans to visit Berlin were announced earlier by German government spokesman Steffen Seibert. According to him, the German Finance Minister Wolfgang Shauble will also take part in the meeting and the parties will discuss the reforms and financial situation in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian prime minister is also expected to meet with German business representatives and address the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, a political foundation offering a wide range of conferences and events named after Germany's first post-war Chancellor (1949-1963).

An almost one-year long military conflict in the east has had a direct impact on the Ukrainian economy. The country's national currency has plummeted as the economy faced a looming default. Merkel alongside her Russian, Ukrainian and French counterparts has been actively participating in numerous talks to deescalate the Ukrainian crisis.

Earlier in March, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved a four-year $17.5-billion financial aid program for Ukraine in exchange for Kiev's commitment to implement deep political, social and financial reforms in the country.
