Sergei Lavrov and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif have begun a bilateral meeting in Lausanne.

LAUSANNE (Sputnik) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif have begun a bilateral meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland, where Tehran and P5+1 group of international negotiators are holding their current round of negotiations on Iran's nuclear program.

Earlier on Sunday the foreign ministers of P5+1 group held a consultation meeting in Lausanne.

On Sunday, Russian Foreign Minister also held meetings with his Chinese and US counterparts.

Iran and P5+1 group comprising Russia, the United States, China, the United Kingdom, France and Germany have set March 31 as a deadline for agreeing upon a political framework for a comprehensive nuclear deal on Iranian nuclear program. The deal itself is expected to be reached by the end of June, 2015.

The current round of negotiations kicked off on Thursday and was expected to last until March 29.

Earlier on Sunday a source in Iranian delegation told RIA Novosti that the sides agreed to prolong the negotiations until Tuesday, March 31.
