WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — European Council President Donald Tusk will meet US President Barack Obama in Washington, DC to discuss a range of issues including Russia and Ukraine, the White House announced in a statement on Friday.
"President Obama will host European Council President Donald Tusk at the White House on Monday, March 9," the release stated.
The release explained that besides discussing the situation in Ukraine and Russia, Obama and Tusk will also duscuss economic growth, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, energy security, climate and countering violent extremism and terrorism.
Tusk has been President of the European Council since December.
The European Council defines the European Union's (EU) overall political direction and priorities, and sets the EU’s policy agenda, according to its mission statement.
