US Department of State stated that John Kerry will meet with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Geneva on Monday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – US Secretary of State John Kerry will meet with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Geneva on Monday, US Department of State said in a statement on Thursday.

"While in Geneva, the Secretary will also meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to discuss Ukraine and regional issues of common interest," the statement said, noting that Kerry will travel to Geneva on March 2 to address the 28th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Lavrov and Kerry discussed the implementation of the Minsk agreements on reconciliation in Ukraine in a phone conversation on February 18.

After the meeting with Lavrov, Kerry will travel to Montreux to meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif to discuss Tehran's nuclear program, according to the statement.
