MINSK (Sputnik) — Participants in the meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine have taken a break in ongoing peace talks to discuss crisis settlement proposals put forward by the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics.

"We have submitted a draft protocol on Ukrainian crisis settlement to other parties at the talks. They promised to give an answer after a break," DPR envoy at the talks, Denis Pushilin told RIA Novosti.

"The document includes a wide range of political and military steps, as reality has shown that military measures alone do not produce the desired results," Pushilin said

The official added that the time frame for resumption of the talks had not been determined.

The Contact Group comprises representatives from Kiev, the self-proclaimed people's republics of Donetsk and Luhansk (DPR and LPR) in eastern Ukraine, Russia and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

During the meeting of the Contact Croup in September 2014 in the Belarusian capital, Minsk, the warring sides managed to reach a ceasefire agreement, however, the situation deteriorated dramatically in the beginning of 2015.

On Wednesday, the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France are expected to meet in Minsk for Ukrainian crisis resolution talks in the Normandy format.
