MOSCOW, December 21 (Sputnik) – A convoy, carrying Russian humanitarian aid to Ukraine's southeastern regions, is heading for Russia's border with Ukraine, a representative of the Emergencies Ministry told RIA Novosti Sunday.
According to the representative, "a convoy of over 180 vehicles" is carrying over 1,400 metric tons of humanitarian aid, which includes food, medicine and New Year presents.
This is the tenth humanitarian convoy that Russia has sent to the crisis-stricken regions of Ukraine since August.
The previous convoy of more than 130 trucks brought 1,200 tons of aid to the area on December 12.
In total, Russian convoys have delivered over 12,000 tons of aid to residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions that have been suffering from a severe humanitarian crisis as a result of Kiev's military operation launched against local independence supporters in mid-April.
