Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said that Venezuela considers unacceptable the US interference into country’s internal affairs.

MOSCOW, December 7 (Sputnik) – Venezuela considers unacceptable the US interference into country’s internal affairs, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said Saturday.

“Interference of the US Embassy in Venezuela is intolerable. It is a shame that [the US President Barack] Obama allows the US government in Venezuela to act in such a dangerous way,” Maduro told Telesur news channel.

Maduro stressed he had evidence of US diplomatic staff attempting to interfere in the country’s internal affairs.

“I am currently investigating the actions of the US Embassy in Venezuela… We have a lot of information,” the president said.

Although Venezuela is making efforts toward normalizing its relations with the United States, it faces resistance, Maduro underscored.

The United States and Venezuela have had strained diplomatic relations.

In December 2010, Venezuelan then-President Hugo Chavez rejected a newly appointed US ambassador to Venezuela, accusing the diplomat of disrespectful remarks. Following the incident, the United States cancelled the visa of the Venezuelan ambassador Bernardo Alvarez. Both countries have also deported lower-ranking diplomats.
