Kerry: Iran, P5+1 Group Aim at Finishing Political Agreement in Four Months

US Secretary of State Kerry stressed that the P5+1 group's representatives and Tehran's delegation have finished this round of talks on Iranian nuclear program with the understanding that they will “go to work immediately, meet again very shortly.”

WASHINGTON, November 24 (Sputnik) – The negotiations on the Iran nuclear deal have been extended for seven months, the sides aim at finishing the political agreement within four months, according to US Secretary of State John Kerry.

“We are jointly the P5+1, six nations and Iran, extending these talks for seven months with a very specific goal of finishing the political agreement within four months,” Kerry said at the press conference in Vienna on Monday.

The Secretary of State also stressed that the P5+1 group's representatives and Tehran's delegation have finished this round of talks with the understanding that they will “go to work immediately, meet again very shortly.”

“If we can do it sooner, we want to do it sooner,” Kerry concluded.

The deadline for signing a comprehensive nuclear deal with Tehran expired on Monday.

The final round of talks on the Iranian nuclear program between Tehran and the P5+1 group of international negotiators comprising Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, China and Germany, began in Vienna Tuesday. The group sought to strike a comprehensive long-term nuclear deal with Tehran, guaranteeing the peaceful nature of its nuclear program. An interim deal was agreed upon during P5+1 talks in Geneva in November 2013.
