VIENNA, November 23 (Sputnik) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will hold bilateral meeting with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Sunday as part of the talks between the P5+1 group and Tehran on the Iranian nuclear program in Vienna, a source in Russian delegation told RIA Novosti.
Lavrov landed in the Austrian capital earlier in the day. Steinmeier has been in Vienna since Saturday.
UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has already returned to Vienna, while the arrival of French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius is expected later in the day. They will reportedly meet with US Secretary of State John Kerry and chief EU negotiator Catherine Ashton later on Sunday at a working dinner.
The final round of Tehran’s talks with the P5+1 group, comprising Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, China, and Germany, kicked off in Vienna on Tuesday.
The West has long accused Iran of attempting to develop a weapon of mass destruction under the guise of a civilian nuclear program — claims Tehran has repeatedly denied. During the Geneva round of talks held in November 2013, the P5+1 group of international mediators and Tehran agreed to reach a deal ensuring peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program by July 2014. The deadline was later postponed to November 24, 2014.
