The 44th Tokyo Motor Show kicked off on Wednesday. This year, the event goes futuristic under the slogan "Technology and Fantasy". Eco-friendly technologies and new sources of energy became the trendsetters of the show.
This year show proves that competition between car makers moved the field of environment protecting technologies and new sources of energy. It also demonstrates how far technology has gone, expert Koitiro Imoto said.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the rotary technology, Mazda made the RX-Vision model, a front-engine rear-wheel drive concept car. According to the company, the design of the car was created manually, with no computer technologies involved.

Volkswagen made its Polo WRC even more dynamic. The company also changed its look which now tells about the participation of VW’s partners in the World Rally Championship.

Toyota demonstrated the first hydrogen-powered concept car – FCV Plus which can share unused electric energy. The FCV Plus concept can generate and share energy which can be used to power a house, a company representative explained. The car is also can serve as a general-purpose electricity generator.

Isuzu rolled out the first ever biofuel-powered bus. It consumes biofuel made with the green euglena algae. The bus has been in use for one year in the Japanese city of Fujisawa.

In 2016, Lexus will begin the delivery of the sports version of its GS sedan – the Lexus GS F. The car debuted in January at the Detroit Motor Show.

Nissan unveiled the Gripz Concept Car. It features cameras embedded in its headlights for recording video or live feeds.

The Nissan IDS concept is self-driving car. According to the company, the Nissan Intelligent Driving technology improves the driver’s ability to see, to think and to react. The system corrects drivers’ mistakes and makes driving safe, more environment-friendly and more pleasant.
