International Information Agency Rossiya Segodnya has launched the "Heroes of Our Time" media project dedicated to those who performed brave and good deeds. For six months, videos of the project were displayed on the facades of five buildings in Moscow.

The disaster ruined 22 residential houses, 367 buildings were flooded. Some 1289 people were made homeless. Many power transmitting lines, bridges and roads were destroyed. Demin was one of those whose actions helped save more than 1,000 lives.

The idea to create a company for disabled people came to her in the 1990s when the problem on unemployment was extremely acute. "We began with a shoe service. After a while, there were more people who wanted to work there. We created a training and production center," Elena said. Now, 31 employees work for the company, including 28 disabled people. The company has provides high-demand services such as tailoring, shoe repair, document printing and haircuts.
