The 2015 North American International Auto Show – or simply the Detroit Motor Show – kicked off on January 12, with a series of press and industry previews. The doors will open to the public on Saturday. As many as 45 all-new cars, trucks and SUVs are set to make their debut in the Motor City. Sputnik selected some of the most amazing premieres from the show.
Acura revealed its all-new 2016 NSX supercar model, making its triumphant return after a decade. The all-wheel-drive vehicle has a twin-turbo V6 engine which is expected to deliver over 500 horsepower. The previous NSX was heralded in its heyday as the "$40,000 Ferrari" and carved the new ground for Honda (Acura’s parental company) in the enthusiast world. The new NSX could again redefine the performance car. It is expected to hit the market in 2015 with a price starting at $150,000.

Mercedes-Benz rolled its new concept F015 Luxury in Motion at the Detroit Motor Show. The all-silver vehicle looks like an alien spacecraft from a Hollywood sci-fi movie and captures company’s idea of the self-driving car.

South Korea’s Hyundai presented the Santa Cruz Crossover Truck Concept. The dual-cab vehicle is a few years away from production. A 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine rated at 190 hp powers the concept. According to the company, Santa Cruz is not an alternative to a traditional pickup truck. It is intended to appeal to crossover buyers who want more utility without the huge size of a traditional truck.

The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider was revealed in final production form at the motor show. The new two-seat roadster has reached production without any significant changes from the concept car, unveiled at the 2014 Geneva motor show. Power comes from a turbocharged 1.7-liter engine which delivers 237 hp. Only 3,000 will be built by hand in Italy. The price will supposedly be $60-85,000.

Infinity, the luxury division of Nissan, unveiled the Q60 Concept sports coupe. The vehicle is powered with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that produces 444 hp. The concept features drive-by-wire electric power steering. The automaker claims the system is faster and more flexible than mechanical steering wheel.

Mercedes-Benz declared 2015 the "year of the SUV" at the Detroit motor show. The company revealed two GLE Coupe models, including the top GLE63 AMG crossover coupe and the GLE450 AMG coupe. The company says the new SUV’s have the typical attributes of coupes such as sportiness and dynamism as well as the versatility and ruggedness of an SUV.

BMW unveiled its new 6-series at the 2015 Detroit motor show. The series was represented at the event by the M6 Coupe. Using a 4.4-liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine which generates 560 horsepower, the new coupe will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in four seconds. The new 6-series will available in the second quarter of this year.

Ford has shocked the automotive world with an all-new GT supercar in Detroit. The new generation of the legendary GT series is equipped with an EcoBoost V6 engine with twin-turbochargers delivering more than 600 horsepower. Production will start late next year. The new Ford GT will hit the road to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ford’s historic 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans victory with the original GT40.

General Motors presented its new electric vehicle, the Chevrolet Bolt. According to the automaker, the concept would have 200-plus miles of electric range and cost about $30,000. The Chevrolet Bolt may come to market within a year or two.

Mercedes F015 concept’s interior cabin was designed to be more like a lounge with rotating chairs that can face one another. The vehicle also has six individual displays which provide all the necessary controls of the vehicle’s systems. The passengers can control the car with gestures and eye motion. The concept has back LED-lights to indicate whether the vehicle is autonomous or driven by a person.

Toyota unveiled the all-new 2016 Tacoma midsized pickup. The vehicle will be powered by a 2.7-liter engine and a 3.5-liter V6 engine. The new Tacoma will come standard with a GoPro action camera mount near the rear-view mirror.
