The ceremonial opening of the Faberge Museum took place in St.Petersburg on Tuesday. The museum, located in the Shuvalovsky Palace on the Fontanka River embankment, will be open for visitors from December. The collection features over 4,000 works of decorative and fine art including gold and silver items and paintings as well as items made of porcelain and bronze.

Among the exhibits will be jewelry masterpieces sold abroad in the 1920s-1930s and later returned to Russia.

The central part of the collection will be nine famous imperial Faberge eggs that will be exhibited in the palace’s ceremonial Blue Hall.
