ABBA Museum Opens in Stockholm

The main exhibition pieces are the band’s musical instruments and the stage costumes they wore for their shows in the 70s.

You can have a little boogie to ABBA hits in a dance room illuminated by multicolored neon lights and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the 70s.

In 1972, when the band was in its early beginnings, it was called Björn, Benny, Agnetha & Anni-Frid, the first names of the band members. In 1973, they renamed themselves using the initials of their names and became ABBA.

The founders have tried to make the museum as contemporary and interactive as possible. In one of the rooms is a piano linked up to Benny Andersson’s studio.

On the wall in one of the rooms is a special telephone that the band’s members may call at any time in order to chat with any visitor to the museum who happens to be standing nearby.

ABBA split up in 1982, however, the band members continued to work together after that and penned the musicals “Chess,” “Kristina fran Duvemala” and “Mamma Mia,” which was based on ABBA’s old hits.
