The sand sculpture world championship got underway on April 28 at the former imperial estate of Kolomenskoye in Moscow. Taking part are famous artists from around the world. The theme of this year's competition is Secrets of the World’s Peoples.
The sand sculpture world championship got underway on April 28 at the former imperial estate of Kolomenskoye in Moscow. Taking part are famous artists from around the world. The theme of this year's competition is Secrets of the World’s Peoples.
The Moscow-based international project was founded by the creative group Art Bliss, represented by Pavel Mylnikov, five-time world champion and multiple winner of international sand sculpture competitions and festivals. His works include commemorative sand sculptures of Pope John Paul II, Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa and many other public figures.
Currently, sculptors are creating 12 masterpieces out of sand, each between three and five meters in height.
Representatives of the Moscow government, embassies and participating countries will be invited to the awards ceremony.

The project venue also includes a large sand pit for younger visitors, where sand sculpture competitions for children will be held.

Visitors to Kolomenskoye will be able to admire the fragile creations until October 6.
The judging panel, made up of well-known figures from the world of art, will announce the winners in various categories, including the People's Choice Award.
