As Hillary Clinton went unrecognized grabbing lunch at Chipotle in Ohio on Monday, the internet was buzzing about posters being put up mocking the candidate in several major cities.

After announcing her intentions to run for president over the weekend, Clinton embarked on the campaign trail to make her first stop in Iowa.  Guerilla artists also hit the streets, putting up posters in Los Angeles, New York, and Las Vegas, heavily criticizing the presidential hopeful.

The posters in New York and Las Vegas featured an eerie black and white photo of Clinton accompanied by various words and phrases that reporters have been told not to use when writing about the politician, such as “insincere,” “secretive,” “ambitious,” and “entitled.”

Hundreds of the posters were spotted around New York City on Monday as well as on the Las Vegas Strip.

The words and phrases come from a list of adjectives that a group called “The Clinton Super Volunteers” have described as “sexist code words.”

“A group called HRC Super Volunteers just warned me, ‘we will be watching, reading, listening, and protesting coded sexism,’” Amy Chozick of The New York Times tweeted on March 25.  “Sexist words, they say, include ‘polarizing, calculating, disingenuous, insincere, ambitious, inevitable, entitled, over-confident…’” Chozick continued.  “Also sexist, according to HRC Super Volunteers: ‘secretive’ and ‘will do anything to win, represents the past, out of touch…’”

Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, posters with the title “The Royals” bannered across Clinton who is crowned and wearing an Elizabethan gown were plastered through the Westside and Hollywood by a guerilla street artist known as Sabo.

“Hillary’s coronation begins April 12th on Twitter,” the poster read across the top, with the hashtag #mybirthright.

Sabo had previously created a Los Angeles street art campaign against the former first lady in October before a fundraiser she held in Brentwood.  The artist had depicted flying monkeys holding signs which read “Hillary 2016” and wheat pasted and hung them all over the area surrounding the restaurant hosting her fundraiser.

He also created a fake website for the restaurant, complete with a menu including items such as “french toast their economy by taxing the sh*t out of the rich” and “butter-crumbed eggs with partisan politics, polenta and arugula.”

The Clinton camp has yet to respond to the street art.
