Ramon C. Estrada, 62, died Sunday at the prison in Draper, a Utah Department of Corrections spokeswoman said in a statement. He was set to be paroled in less than three weeks.
Estrada was scheduled to have dialysis Friday at the prison’s treatment center, but a technician from a University of Utah Hospital clinic did not show up on Friday or Saturday. A hospital spokeswoman attributed the “unacceptable mistake” to a scheduling miscommunication.
