Spain's Neutrality Over Ukrainian Conflict Questioned
The Communist Party of Spain (CPS) demanded freedom from charges for eight Spaniards who allegedly took part in the Ukrainian conflict, as Spain has never officially been in a state of neutrality toward the Ukrainian conflict.

Eight people were arrested by Spanish police in different parts of the country on February 27. They were charged with homicide, weapons and explosives storage and taking part in actions “against the foreign interests of Spanish Kingdom”. The actions of the arrested were pronounced as “undermining peace and independence of the state” and contradicted the state of neutrality of Spain towards the Ukrainian conflict.

The suspects were, however, released after a few hours, but they still have to attend court to be arraigned.

The CPS claimed that the accusations have no legal basis, as no “state of neutrality” was ever officially pronounced. They also state that they “refuse to consider internationalism a crime” as they are “indescribably grateful to all men and women came to Spain to protect the Second Republic from fascism.”

The CPS statement also said that they respected and supported the Minsk agreements towards reconciliation of the Ukrainian crisis.
