Two police officers in Russia's northern Vologda region have been arrested on suspicion of murdering a man and then concealing the crime by hiding his body, a Russian Interior Ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday.

“While checking information about the disappearance of a young man in Cherepovets, investigators found out the missing young man had been beaten up at his workplace by one of their colleagues and later died of his injures. The body of the young man was later taken out of the city and buried in a forest,” the spokesperson said.

A 22-year old police highway patrol officer then helped conceal the killing. “He provided his car for transporting the body and helped to hide the evidence of the murder,” the spokesperson added.

Two suspects are in custody. The police say both men will be discharged from the police and a criminal investigation is underway.
