"There is a danger that steps taken by NATO members in Ukraine for the moment, the assistance program, the incentive messages are aimed in fact at encouraging the authorities to maintain the current situation and the deadlock in Donbas," Grusko said.
According to Grushko, NATO members formally speak out in favor of implementation of the Minsk agreements on settling the Ukrainian crisis but do not take any specific measures aimed at stimulating Ukrainian authorities to fulfill what was agreed. NATO's position runs counter to the interests of sustainable solution to the Ukrainian crisis achieved by diplomatic and political efforts.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called for the full implementation of the Minsk agreements and pointed out the importance of providing the access for the OSCE observers to the whole territory of Ukraine at the opening of the NATO-Ukraine Commission on Monday. The secretary general reminded that NATO advocated Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity.
