Russian and Chinese warship crews have worked out the organization of all types of joint Naval Interaction-2016 military drills, Russia's Pacific Fleet Adm. Vladimir Matveev said Friday.

ZHANJIANG (Sputnik) — Crews of warships of the Russian Navy and the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) have worked out the organization of all types of ship protection within the joint Naval Interaction-2016 military drills, Russia's Pacific Fleet Adm. Vladimir Matveev said Friday.

"Following the arrival to a designated area, Russian and Chinese ships started to fulfill tasks, outlined by the command. Ships' crews have practiced elements of anti-sabotage defense, anti-aircraft defense, anti-submarine warfare on the unsafe roadstead. During the joint maneuvers the sides also held a communication training," Matveev told reporters.

According to Matveev, Russian and Chinese seamen have also worked out search and rescue support episodes at sea.

A total of 18 ships and supply vessels, 21 aircraft and over 250 service personnel from the PLAN and the Russian Navy's Pacific Fleet are taking part in the Naval Interaction-2016 naval drills on September 12-19 in the South China Sea.
