MOSCOW (Sputnik) – "In accordance with the plan of the activities being held, for the further implementation of training and combat tasks, they [contingents] will be deployed to unfamiliar grounds, located at a considerable distance from their places of permanent deployment," the ministry’s press service said on Friday.

Snap combat readiness inspections are running across Russia's Southern, Western and Central military districts, as well as the Northern Fleet, Aerospace Forces and Airborne Troops on August 25-31.

"Some units of the Western, Central military districts and Airborne Troops will undergo combined regrouping by sea, rail and air transport over distances of more than 2,000 kilometers," the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"In total, over 4,000 military servicemen and about 300 units of military equipment are being involved in the implementation of tasks of the snap inspection," the ministry’s press service said in a Friday statement.
