General Atomics Lands $370Mln Contract to Build More Reaper Drones

General Atomics has won a more than one third of a billion dollars US Air Force contract to build 30 MQ-9 Reaper drones, or unmanned aerial vehicles, the US Department of Defense announced.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The company will provide the h30 aircraft by May 31, 2019, the Defense Department said.

"General Atomics — Aeronautical Systems [of] Poway, California, has been awarded a $370.9 million… contract for fiscal 2015 MQ-9 Reaper production," the announcement stated on Monday.

According to the US Air Force, the MQ-9 Reaper is an armed, multi-mission, medium-altitude, long-endurance remotely piloted aircraft that is employed primarily against dynamic targets and secondarily as an intelligence collection craft.
