Russia's Obninsk Nuclear Sub Performs Torpedo Firing in Barents Sea

The Russian Northern Fleet's multipurpose nuclear submarine Obninsk performed torpedo firing during tactical exercises in the Barents Sea, the fleet's press service said Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The press service specified that the submarine crew performed four successful torpedo firings with blind-loaded ammunition. 

"In accordance with the plan of combat training of the Northern Fleet in the Barents Sea tactical exercises were held that simulated attack on the enemy's sea force with torpedoes. The enemy was simulated by large and small anti-submarine warships: the Vice Admiral Kulakov, the Severomorsk, the Brest and the Yunga. The detachment was attacked by the Obninsk multipurpose nuclear submarine," a statement issued by the press service read.
