Egypt, Iran Interested in Equipment Used by Russian Troops at Army Games

Egyptian and Iranian military delegations present at the 2016 International Army Games (IAG) have expressed interest in the Russian 2S25 Sprut self-propelled amphibious tank destroyers and the BMD-4 infantry fighting vehicles, the Russian Defense Ministry said Wednesday.

Russian, Chinese Teams Lead in 2016 International Army Games
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The AIG international Airborne Platoon contest is taking place on August 3-12 in southern Russia. Troops from Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, China, Iran, Egypt and Venezuela are taking part in the competition.

"Russian paratroopers held a display of the marching and firing capabilities of the latest military equipment models currently in service with Russia's airborne troops… A special interest was shown by Iranian and Egyptian representatives, which have repeatedly commented on the excellent quality and reliability of Russian military equipment during the contest," a ministry spokesman said.

Russia is currently hosting the IAG, which started on July 30. The event features competitions in 23 disciplines. A total of 121 teams from 19 countries from across the world are taking part in the IAG which are being monitored by observers from 11 countries.
