N.Korean Missile Program Poses Main Threat to Japan's Security

The North Korean missile program is the key challenge to Japan's security, the Defense of Japan 2016, published on Tuesday by the national Defense Ministry said.

TOKYO (Sputnik) — According to the annual defense white paper, Tokyo is worried about North Korean ballistic buildup and continuous missile tests.

Seoul Slams Pyongyang ‘Hack’ on Government Officials

"Even assuming that North Korea exaggerates claiming to achieve range ability for ballistic missiles and to obtain small nuclear charge for a warhead capable of hitting the United States, is is still possible that military provocations in the region will increase, so our country is concerned over the situation," the white paper said.

On June 22, North Korea claimed it had successfully tested a missile that traveled about 250 miles before dropping into the Sea of Japan. US and South Korean officials said two missiles were fired and that one missile failed.
