VLADIVOSTOK (Sputnik) — Naval aviation fighter jets of Russia's Pacific Fleet has been alarmed from the Yelizovo airfield in the country's Kamchatka Peninsula due to operational alert to repel a simulated enemy air attack as part of a tactical flight exercise, the Russian Defense Ministry said Thursday.

"The MiG-31 interceptor aircraft were transferred in the shortest time to the area of an alleged border violation by simulated enemy aircraft. Standards of ammunition load and squadron aircraft takeoff were checked during the flight, as well as interaction between the flight crews and ground team operating the drills," the Eastern Military District's spokesman Igor Maiborodov said.

According to the spokesman, fighter pilots worked out takeoff and landing at a shortened runway under a simulated enemy's attack.
