US DHS, Justice Dept. Officials Head to China for Cybercrime Dialogue

US Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson and Attorney General Loretta Lynch will travel to Beijing next week to discuss cybercrime with Chinese officials, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a press release on Friday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Moreover, both will visit with their Chinese counterparts to discuss cybersecurity, maritime law enforcement and illegal immigration, among other topics.

"On June 13-15… Johnson will visit Beijing, China to participate in a series of high-level meetings with Chinese officials," the release stated. "Johnson will join Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch to co-chair the Second US-China High-Level Joint Dialogue on Cybercrime and Related Issues."

The US and China have experienced tension in their relationship recently over Chinese construction in the South China Sea and an expansion of US military presence in the Asia-Pacific region.
