“During the summer of 2016, more than 30 tactical exercises with missile battalions and more than 20 tactical specialized drills with units from provisions and security will be held. More than 30 percent of them will be snap [drills],” the press service said in a statement.
The Russian Strategic Missile Forces will also hold exercises this summer in the country’s westernmost unit.
“During the summer, training…will be held with the westernmost units of the Strategic Missile Forces from the Bologoye Missile Division,” the press center said.
Russia's Strategic Missile Forces are an arm of the country's Armed Forces and the main component of its strategic nuclear troops. Their main goals include nuclear deterrence and defense against possible enemy nuclear missile attacks.
