The US House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed the Intelligence Authorization Act (IAA) to ensure funds are available for the Intelligence Community in the coming fiscal year, the Democratic office for the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence said in a press release on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The release noted that this year’s IAA focuses resources on the fight against the Daesh, enhancement of oversight by Congress of the Intelligence Community, and strengthening capabilities in cyberspace.

"The bill… ensures that the programs and activities of the US Intelligence Community (IC), including Department of Defense (DoD) intelligence elements, are authorized in law and optimally resourced to protect the nation from threats at home and abroad."

The release included a statement from the House Permanent Select Committee Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes, who expressed hope the US Senate will pass the measure soon.
