MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The two-day event organized by the Russian Defense Ministry brings together over 500 participants, including military officials and experts.
The heads and senior officials from several international organizations will take part in the conference as well, including those from the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
The discussion at the conference will be focused on the anti-terrorism fight. Such topics as security in the Asian-Pacific region, situation in Europe, global security challenges and military cooperation are also due to be touched upon.
Special attention will be devoted to the subjects of the Middle Eastern antagonisms, traditional and new threats to the international security, role of armed forces in countering the so-called Color revolutions and ensuring peace in Central Asia.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Secretary of Russia's Security Council Nikolai Patrushev and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, as well as Director of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Alexander Bortnikov are due to speak at the conference.
Numerous bilateral and multilateral meetings are expected to take place on the sidelines of the event, with participation of the Chinese military officials and Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan. All the defense officials will speak at four plenary sessions of the conference.
Moscow Conference on International Security is held annually since 2012 under the auspices of the Russian Defense Ministry.
