Russia will deliver the first S-300 air defense systems to Iran in September or August.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The first delivery of S-300 air defense systems to Iran will occur in August or September 2016, the head of the state production company Rostec said.

"I think we will deliver the S-300 by the end of the year…The first delivery will be in September or August," Sergei Chemezov said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

The $800-million Russia-Iran contract to deliver five Russian S-300 systems to Iran was signed in 2007. It was suspended after the adoption of UN Security Council sanctions on Iran in mid-2010. In 2011, in response to the suspension of the deal, Iran filed a $4-billion suit against Russia in the Geneva Arbitration Court. In April 2015, Russia resumed the talks on S-300 deliveries following a framework agreement on the landmark deal ensuring the peaceful nature of Tehran’s nuclear program.

In July 2015, Russian Presidential Aide Vladimir Kozhin said that Russia would deliver a modernized version of the S-300 air defense system to Tehran, which was being updated for Iran's specific needs.

In November 2015, Chemezov said that a contract to deliver the S-300 air defense systems to Iran had taken effect.

"Yes, they gave the conditions, and said they need only an S-300 PMU-1 [model]. We suggested an Antey-2500 [export version of S-300VM], but they said no, give us the S-300. So, OK," Sergei Chemezov said in the interview.

Chemezov noted that it would be the last delivery of this system abroad, adding that "it probably won’t be produced anymore."

Russia and Iran are expected to fulfill the S-300 contracts in 2016, according to Iranian military officials.

Just like we did with the Bushehr Nuclear Facility we Iranians no longer pay attention to Russia's backstabbing. We are used to it.

Russia does not have many friends for a good reason, as Russia always sells out when the price is right.

Perhaps Russia is lucky that most Dahaty Iranian Mullahs in charge of most organizations are corrupt and keep coming back for more of Russia's bullsht.

    IranianExpat1916,
That's why you're an ex-pat...a traitor to your Nation...probably sitting on a sunny beach in California!

Bushehr initial contracts were for the Germans to build 2 reactors...however the 1980-8 Iraq war intervened and the sites were partially destroyed by Iraqi bombing. A few years after the war in 1992, Iran signed contracts with the Russians to take over the work and start to re-build it.

Actually the Iranian Bushehr Nuclear facility is up and running...the Russians fulfilled their Agreement....and signed (Nov 2014) new contracts to build 2 more Reactors.

The Bushehr Nuclear Plant project is considered unique in terms of technology, the political environment and the challenging physical climate. Financial problems, inflation, and the need to integrate German and Russian technology have made the project difficult for the participants.

Leo Müller, please calm down do not belittle Rossini. I know you are frustrated, but you have to know that to change something that was already made require strict attention and patience. Because one mistake can blow everything off the track. Let's give Russia time to fulfill their tedious work of modernization. At the end , Iran will be glad with the result.

i smell an israeli genocidal rat involved in wanting to stall this deal ;)
but a word of advice to tel aviv; why don't you focus more on your ''allies'' from washington and london, who send qatar, 'saudi' arabia, kuwait, bahrain etc billions in *offensive* deadly missiles and jets, instead of fearing that you won't be able to attack iran without serious risk or consequence due to the *defensive* s-300....
