US Air Force Pays Nearly $1Bln for Services in War on Drugs - Pentagon

Fifteen different US companies have been awarded $975 million in contracts with the US Air Force to further the War on Drugs, the US Department of Defense announced.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The contracts are awarded to finance activities carried out within the continental United States, in Alaska and Hawaii, but also in other countries.

Work under the contracts is expected to be completed by January 28, 2025, the announcement noted.

The companies "will provide services… to improve the capability of US and partner nation agency organizations; and endeavors to detect, deter, disrupt, degrade, and defeat national security threats posed by illegal drugs, trafficking, piracy [and] transnational organized crime," the Defense Department said on Monday.

The companies included CACI Inc., DynCorp International, Honeywell Technology Solutions and Raytheon Intelligence, Information, & Services (IIS), according to the announcement.

Among the other companies given contracts were PAE Applied Technologies, Triple Canopy, Blackhawk-PRI Critical Services, Cambridge International Systems, International Tactical Solutions and the Technology Management Company.
