"…On January 19, engineering unit exercises will take place. The personnel will use a training field to practice several introductory courses on laying and clearing mines, involving self-propelled crawler equipment," the fleet's command said in a statement.

The units will complete tasks simulating the laying of mines and the wiping out enemy columns in realistic conditions, using armored vehicles from motorized units to emulate engaging an enemy, it was noted in the statement.

New special equipment and protective clothing will be demonstrated during the exercises. The latest electronic technology will be employed by the reconnaissance patrol units to demonstrate the process of uncovering dangerous objects and rendering them harmless, the Pacific Fleet said. New demining outfits, mine detectors and underground cable detectors will also be demonstrated, according to the statement.
