Military Suicides Rising in US Marines and Army, Marine Reserves - Report
US military suicides soared in the third quarter of 2015 in the Army, Marines and Marines Corps Reserves, the US Department of Defense Quarterly Suicide Report revealed.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Marine Corps suicides skyrocketed from one in July-September 2014 to eight in the same period in 2015, while suicides in the Army and Marine Corps Reserves almost doubled from July through September 2015 to 30 compared with only 16 for the same period in 2014, the report documented.

"In the third quarter of 2015, there were 72 suicides among service members in the active component, and 70 suicides in the reserve component, which includes 38 suicides among reserve service members and 32 suicides among service members in the National Guard," the report, issued on Monday, said.

Suicides have increasingly claimed the lives of US soldiers, and the current phenomenon of high suicide rates among former US soldiers has become an important issue for the Department of Veteran Affairs.
The suicide rate is higher for veterans aged 18-29, which reveals the enormous increase in the suicide rate among post September 11, 2001 war veterans.
According to the Department of Veteran Affair, every day 22 US veterans take their own lives.
