Montenegro Joining NATO Would Mean End to Military Cooperation With Russia
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia will respond to NATO’s eastward expansion if Montenegro joins the alliance, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday.

“Moscow has always noted on various levels that the continuing expansion of NATO, NATO’s military infrastructure to the East, can not but bring a response from the East, that is from Russia in regard to providing interests of security and supporting the parity of interests,” Peskov told journalists in regard to Montenegro’s invitation earlier in the day to join the alliance.

When asked if Moscow would take countermeasures in regard to NATO’s expansion, Peskov responded positively by saying “well, of course.”
