NATO Member Envoys Give Green Light on Montenegro's Bid to Join Alliance
Earlier in the day, a diplomatic source told RIA Novosti that the permanent envoys of all of NATO's 28 member states had approved Montenegro’s bid to join the alliance. NATO-member foreign ministers are expected to make the decision public on Wednesday.

“In my opinion, with the information we are having now, we are 95 percent, pretty sure that there will be an official invitation tomorrow,” Raznatovic said.

The leader of the only opposition party in the country that supports Montenegro's accession to NATO added that the procedure for Montenegro to become a fully-fledged NATO member could take “from one and a half to a maximum of two years.”

Speaking of the negative side of Montenegro joining NATO, Raznatovic said the country would face it “in a short perspective” as the major of Montenegro's opposition as well as Serbia and Russia are not in favour of the move by Podgorica.

Since late September, Montenegro has seen a string of anti-government protests with thousands of citizens gathering in the streets of the country's capital, Podgorica, to demand that Montenegro stay out of the US-led NATO military bloc and calling for the creation of an interim government and early parliamentary elections.
